Our Story 

It was 2015, it was our honeymoon. The setting was Wild Turkey in Kentucky. We went for a tour and the place was incredible. We shared the tour with another Australian couple who at the time ran a distillery. We were over looking snow covered ground perched high above the Kentucky River, when we both looked at each other and said why don't we do something like this at home?

Fast Forward til 2020 that horrible year of lockdowns. I was working over in Western Australia at the time when it all happened. Border was shut and work would only pay for one lot of quarantine for 2 weeks. Decision was made to return once stay away for 4 months then return for birth for daughter. While stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks was a good time to study. We did a few courses and the ball was rolling on starting a distillery. We would slog away for 2 years before a product would be ready.

Bring in 2022 and it was both a horrible year and a memorable one. Right before we were ready to launch Downstream Gin I lost my mother to bowel cancer. When I first told her what I doing her reaction was just simply why. It seemed odd at the time and it wasn't until a few year later I could honestly answer that question.

Put simply its the people you meet along the way is why. Whether its a supplier, colleague, friend or customer the way you can connect some them over a drink is why. 

So hopefully we can connect with a lot more people over our time and bring you a taste of our wonderful region.
